Registered Nurse - Palliative Care
Location: Carmichael, California
Start Date: 06-23-2026
End Date: 09-22-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, up to every other weekend
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $71 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage a meaningful caseload of 5-6 new patients and 3-4 follow-ups daily
- Lead compassionate goals-of-care discussions and family meetings
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, advance directives, and POLSTs
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team during daily rounds
- Review patient charts and assess needs across multiple hospital units
- Provide emotional support and guidance during end-of-life conversations
Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- BLS certification required
- ELNEC certification preferred
- 2-5 years of recent palliative or hospice experience
- Acute care experience in ICU or oncology is a plus
- Strong clinical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Cerner EMR proficiency
- Palliative care screening and consultation workflow
- Advance care planning and family facilitation
- Ability to serve diverse patient populations with empathy
