Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based postpartum and couplet care for mothers and newborns
• Assess, monitor, and document maternal and neonatal status using Cerner EMR
• Perform IV starts and manage medication administration safely and accurately
• Manage patients on magnesium sulfate and antihypertensive therapies with vigilance
• Collaborate with the OB hospitalist, pediatric team, RT, and pharmacy for coordinated care
• Participate in unit orientation including a pass/fail simulation lab on Day 1
• Float cross-campus to Chandler Regional Postpartum when competent and needed
• Serve as a reliable team member during nights and required weekend shifts

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience (preferred in mother-baby or postpartum care)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Able to work 12-hour night shifts and scheduled weekends
• Successful completion of a pass/fail simulation lab on Day 1 of orientation
• COVID vaccine or completed declination form with hospital approval
• Comfortable with IV starts and hands-on newborn/maternal care
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing diploma accepted; BSN preferred but not required
• Active RN license in good standing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong mother-baby and postpartum nursing skills including couplet care
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric coordination and newborn assessments
• Medication management for magnesium sulfate and hypertensive agents
• Competence in IV starts and basic acute care procedures
• Ability to work with PCTs and float when needed
• Effective communication and charge nurse collaboration
• Familiarity with RT and pharmacy workflows available 24/7
