Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across medical and surgical units
• Float between units (Medical, Laulima surgical acute, occasional Cardiovascular) and adapt to unit-specific workflows
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement evidence-based interventions
• Administer medications safely using Pyxis and follow established medication administration protocols
• Manage specialty equipment such as wound VACs and chest tubes with competency and attention to safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care and positive patient outcomes
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain competence across assigned areas

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license required by start of assignment
• 2-10 years of nursing experience (medical-surgical and float experience preferred)
• BLS required; ACLS required
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Competent with Meditech EMR, Pyxis medication systems, wound VAC care, and chest tube management
• Ability to safely float between units and maintain flexibility in assignments
• Proof of immunity required; medical and religious exemptions will not be accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and patient assessment capabilities
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical records
• Medication administration proficiency (Pyxis experience)
• Hands-on experience with wound VACs and chest tube care
• Comfort working in a float pool model across multiple units
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage multiple patients (ratios noted: Medical 1:6 days/eves, 1:8 nights; Laulima 1:6; Cardiovascular 1:4)
