Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and evaluations to create individualized plans of care
• Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions for adults in an acute inpatient rehabilitation/IRF setting
• Complete accurate documentation including IRF-PAI requirements and timely Epic charting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient recovery and discharge planning
• Provide skilled training in adaptive equipment, wheelchair positioning, and home assessment recommendations
• Support patient and family education on safety, transfers, home exercise programs, and long-term recovery goals
• Float to other UCSF facilities as needed to meet patient care demands

Qualifications

• Current CA Occupational Therapist license (required)
• AHA BLS certification (required)
• MS/MA degree (required)
• Minimum 1 year licensed inpatient rehab (IRF) experience (clinical rotations do not count)
• Demonstrated IRF-PAI experience (required)
• COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Ability and willingness to float to other UCSF facilities as needed
• Epic experience preferred

Education

• MS/MA in Occupational Therapy (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Occupational therapy assessment and evaluation
• IRF-PAI documentation and reporting
• Plan of care development and discharge planning
• Prosthetics and orthotics knowledge and splinting skills
• Adaptive equipment assessment and wheelchair positioning
• Modalities such as TENS, ultrasound, electrical stimulation
• Cognitive and perceptual assessments and interventions
• Burn/wound management, cardiac and orthopedic rehab principles
• Feeding techniques, edema massage, and kinesiotaping
• Home exercise programs, lifting/transfer techniques, patient/family education
