Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population, including trauma, burns, and medical emergencies
• Triage patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity levels in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma center
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, midlevels, and support staff to stabilize and treat critical patients
• Monitor telemetry readings and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect changes in patient status
• Perform emergency procedures such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
• Float between multiple facilities (St. Joseph's Main, Westgate, and free-standing ERs) as needed, ensuring seamless patient care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
• At least 6 months of Level 1 Trauma experience is a must
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (ENPC not accepted in lieu of PALS)
• TNCC and ATCN certifications strongly preferred
• Ability to pass the DYS exam prior to accepting assignment (2 attempts allowed)
• Comfortable with floating between up to 4 facilities within a 30-minute radius

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Cerner electronic medical records
• Strong telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Expertise in trauma nursing, including rapid assessment and intervention
• Knowledge of sterile technique for procedures like central line dressing changes and Foley insertion
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a high-pressure environment
