Shift Type: Rotating day shifts, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM; typical weekday coverage with every 3rd Friday/Saturday/Sunday rotation and an end-of-holiday (EOH) holiday rotation (at least one holiday during assignment)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent hands-on care to both Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care needs quickly and safely
• Cross-cover between ED and MS when needed — step into the ER side to stabilize and care for incoming patients
• Collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient transfers, admissions and discharges
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records and complete required competencies
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as scheduled to ensure continuous patient coverage
• Follow infection control protocols and complete required health screenings and vaccinations

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (ability to practice in Iowa required)
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Experience caring for Emergency Department and Medical-Surgical patients with cross-coverage experience preferred
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist prior to or during onboarding
• Successful completion of required pre-employment health screenings (fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, immunizations and TB testing) and license verification

Knowledge & Skills

• ER patient care and emergency triage skills
• Medical-Surgical patient assessment and management
• Cross-coverage skills to transition between ED and MS workflows seamlessly
• Strong patient assessment and prioritization abilities
• Familiarity with competency testing and skills validation processes
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small-team environment
