Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU, providing high-acuity nursing care
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators while delivering expert ventilator management
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz (pulmonary artery) assessments and interpret results
• Care for patients with invasive devices — arterial lines, central lines, and chest tubes — maintaining safety and sterility
• Support post-op CABG and other cardiac recovery procedures with precise clinical interventions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately using Meditech EMR
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and escalate care when interventions beyond bedside scope are required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience (adult ICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or other critical care specialty) — must have
• Demonstrated ventilator, arterial line, central line, and chest tube management skills
• CVICU experience, CABG recovery, CRRT, and Impella experience are preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is a plus
• BSN and CCRN certification are preferred but not mandatory
• Team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ventilator management and advanced respiratory support
• Proficient with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery)
• Skilled in management of arterial lines, central lines, and chest tubes
• Experience with CRRT and mechanical circulatory support like Impella
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR for documentation and workflows
• Strong critical thinking, rapid assessment, and ICU-level clinical decision-making
