Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide targeted clinical education to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell, improving care quality and staff confidence
• Partner with clinical leaders to design, implement, and standardize clinical competencies that meet policy and accreditation standards
• Select and deliver curriculum and training programs tailored to adult learners and geriatric care needs
• Support onboarding and preceptorships for new hires and coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS
• Serve as a collaborative member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to wider consortium projects
• Use evidence-based research to identify and implement strategies that improve professional development and patient outcomes
• Evaluate and document competency completion and ensure alignment with organizational standards

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (required); direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
• Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Minimum 2 years clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced with supervisory experience)
• Ability to travel approximately 30% by jet, small aircraft, and ferry; ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical education and curriculum development for adult learners
• Long-term care and geriatric patient care expertise
• Competency assessment and standardization
• Evidence-based practice and quality improvement
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience with preceptorships and student clinical coordination
• Familiarity with education delivery tools: Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint
• Policy and compliance awareness and the ability to implement training that supports organizational standards
