Polysomnographic Technologist - Sleep Lab

Shift Type: Night shift, 4x10 schedule (4 nights per week, schedule varies), 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM NOC
Hours per Week: 52
Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot polysomnography (PSG) and home sleep testing equipment to ensure high-quality data
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to standards and monitor signal quality throughout the study
- Score PSG and HSAT studies accurately using established staging and scoring criteria
- Provide clear, compassionate patient education and instructions before and during testing
- Support positive airway pressure needs including CPAP, BiPAP, and ASV titration and mask fitting
- Identify, correct, and document artifacts and routine observations to facilitate accurate interpretation
- Coordinate home sleep study logistics and ensure timely collection and scoring of HSATs
- Work under the clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to determine testing parameters and ensure patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Current RPSGT and/or RCP certification required
- California state license required
- BLS (AHA or ARC) required
- Minimum 2 years of PSG and HSAT scoring experience
- Previous charge experience required
- Flu vaccination required (no declination or exemption permitted by facility)
- Ability to work night shifts and a 4x10 schedule
- EEG certification, RRT, SDS, and Epic experience are preferred but not required
- First-time travelers welcome — travel experience not required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Preferred: Certificate or associate degree in Polysomnography, Respiratory Therapy, or related field
- Preferred: EEG certification or additional sleep-related credentials
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in PSG scoring, sleep staging, and HSAT scoring
- Skilled at electrode/sensor application, equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP/ASV titration and mask fitting
- Comfortable with artifact identification and correction during data acquisition
- Familiarity with Alice, ResMed, and Respironics equipment preferred
- Knowledge of End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, Respiratory Inductance Plethysmography (RIP), and PLM scoring
- Strong patient education, infection control, and documentation skills
- Epic charting experience is a plus
