Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot polysomnography (PSG) and home sleep testing equipment to ensure high-quality data
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to standards and monitor signal quality throughout the study
• Score PSG and HSAT studies accurately using established staging and scoring criteria
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education and instructions before and during testing
• Support positive airway pressure needs including CPAP, BiPAP, and ASV titration and mask fitting
• Identify, correct, and document artifacts and routine observations to facilitate accurate interpretation
• Coordinate home sleep study logistics and ensure timely collection and scoring of HSATs
• Work under the clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to determine testing parameters and ensure patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current RPSGT and/or RCP certification required
• California state license required
• BLS (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 2 years of PSG and HSAT scoring experience
• Previous charge experience required
• Flu vaccination required (no declination or exemption permitted by facility)
• Ability to work night shifts and a 4x10 schedule
• EEG certification, RRT, SDS, and Epic experience are preferred but not required
• First-time travelers welcome — travel experience not required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Preferred: Certificate or associate degree in Polysomnography, Respiratory Therapy, or related field
• Preferred: EEG certification or additional sleep-related credentials

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in PSG scoring, sleep staging, and HSAT scoring
• Skilled at electrode/sensor application, equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP/ASV titration and mask fitting
• Comfortable with artifact identification and correction during data acquisition
• Familiarity with Alice, ResMed, and Respironics equipment preferred
• Knowledge of End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, Respiratory Inductance Plethysmography (RIP), and PLM scoring
• Strong patient education, infection control, and documentation skills
• Epic charting experience is a plus
