Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and assist the PT in implementing individualized treatment plans
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Document treatments and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient recovery and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety strategies
• Maintain equipment and ensure a safe, organized treatment environment

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted California Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligible to obtain one
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications a plus
• Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a rehabilitation/contract setting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
• Prior experience in inpatient rehab, outpatient orthopedics, or skilled nursing preferred

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, and functional mobility training
• Knowledge of modalities and assistive devices including walkers, canes, and prosthetic training
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with EMR systems
• Ability to perform accurate patient assessments and implement safe care plans
• Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education abilities
