Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering individualized treatment plans that help patients regain function
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility assistance with safety and compassion
- Monitor and document patient progress clearly and accurately in the electronic record
- Educate patients and families on home exercises, safety techniques, and adaptive equipment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, person-centered care
- Prepare treatment areas, maintain equipment, and follow infection-control standards
- Adapt treatment approaches to meet each patient’s goals and make measurable progress
- Participate in team meetings and contribute observations that improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current PTA license in Maryland or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (see Education)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; compassionate approach to patient care
- Reliable, professional, and able to work the specified weekday schedule
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program; completion of required clinicals
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and functional mobility training
- Comfortable using common modalities and assistive devices safely
- Proficient documentation skills and experience with electronic medical records
- Strong clinical observation, patient assessment, and progress-tracking abilities
- Excellent teamwork, time management, and patient-education skills
- Ability to adapt treatments to diverse patient needs and communicate clearly with families
