Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 4 days a week with rotating day off, plus 1 weeknight and 2 weekend days a month for call requirements

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in transportation and positioning of patients with care and compassion
• Prepare patient and room for planned surgical procedures, ensuring everything runs smoothly
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures with precision and attention to detail
• Complete skin preparation and draping to maintain the highest standards of safety
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and suture during procedures
• Maintain correct counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges to support patient safety
• Apply dressings and bandages as needed with gentle, professional care
• Identify, collect, and care for specimens accurately and respectfully
• Decontaminate instruments and supplies according to established policies
• Aid in efficient operating room turnover for seamless case transitions
• Monitor and restock supplies to keep the team prepared and efficient

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OR technician program or equivalent on-the-job, military, or specialized training
• Successfully pass the Certified Surgical Technologist exam through NBSTSA or NCCT (preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an OR Technologist
• Active state license required

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of OR technician program accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of surgical technology and sterile technique
• Skilled in instrument passing and specimen handling
• Proficient in decontamination and proper storage of instruments and supplies
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate counts
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced operating room environment
