Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate, timely testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, and Blood Bank using gel methodology
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab analyzers and point-of-care instruments to keep the lab running smoothly
• Manage specimen flow and prioritize testing during busy periods to ensure patient care is uninterrupted
• Document quality control, proficiency testing, and calibration activities to meet regulatory standards
• Work independently as a generalist in a Critical Access Hospital, making confident decisions and escalating when necessary
• Collaborate with clinical teams and input results in the electronic medical record, providing clear communication about critical values

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent is required
• MT or MLT credential (CLS/MT/MLT) — we welcome both backgrounds
• Active Montana laboratory license required prior to start
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience (generalist role preferred)
• Hands-on experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, and Blood Bank with gel methodology
• Macro experience required
• Ability to work independently, multitask, and thrive in a smaller hospital setting
• Experience with Cerner Millennium is a plus

Education

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (for MLT)
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science or related field preferred for MT/CLS

Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of clinical laboratory testing and workflows
• Blood Bank techniques using gel methodology
• Macro processing and laboratory specimen handling
• Quality control, documentation, and regulatory compliance (CLIA/CAP basics)
• Instrument troubleshooting and routine maintenance
• Familiarity with Cerner Millennium or other lab information systems
• Strong communication skills for interacting with clinicians and colleagues
