Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, and serology
• Analyze, verify, and report test results, including critical values, in a timely manner
• Prioritize testing and workflow independently during weekend night shifts
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing as needed
• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, including QuidelOrtho Vitros platforms
• Perform and document quality control, calibrations, maintenance, and corrective actions
• Utilize Cerner EHR and Laboratory Information System for documentation and reporting
• Communicate effectively with Emergency Department providers, nursing staff, and clinical team members
• Support urgent and emergent testing needs, including blood bank, accurately and professionally

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent hospital laboratory experience strongly preferred
• Strong recent generalist experience required
• Previous successful travel assignment experience required (first-time travelers not considered)
• Independent night shift or weekend shift experience required
• Recent hands-on experience with QuidelOrtho Vitros 7600 and/or Vitros 5600 required
• Cerner EHR experience required
• ASCP MLS/MT or AMT certification required
• AHA BLS certification required

Education

• Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with completed clinical training required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to work independently on weekend night shifts with minimal supervision
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
• Experience across multiple lab disciplines
• Comfortable supporting Emergency Department and inpatient needs in a rural hospital setting
• Excellent communication skills with providers, nursing, and leadership
• Ability to perform and document QC, maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions accurately
