Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality transthoracic and limited echocardiographic studies using established protocols
• Capture and document diagnostic images and measurements accurately for physician review
• Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and the care team to deliver patient-centered cardiac imaging
• Maintain ultrasound equipment, troubleshoot common issues, and report service needs
• Ensure patient comfort and safety while obtaining diagnostic information with compassion and professionalism
• Adhere to infection control, documentation, and departmental quality standards

Qualifications

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or ARDMS certification preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS preferred or as required by facility
• State licensure or ability to obtain required state credentials for the assignment
• Comfortable performing adult transthoracic echocardiography and Doppler imaging
• Strong patient communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Background check and health screening in accordance with facility policy

Education

• Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiac Sonography program
• Associate degree or certificate in medical imaging or allied health preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in echocardiography imaging protocols and measurement techniques
• Familiarity with ultrasound equipment operation and basic troubleshooting
• Ability to acquire diagnostic images under varying clinical conditions
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamic principles
• Accurate documentation and image labeling for timely physician interpretation
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
