Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and help maintain their dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Measure and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing team
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Work closely with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver coordinated care
• Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a safe, clean environment

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Valid state credentials as required for nursing assistants in Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Comfortable with resident lifting/transfer techniques and safe patient handling

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification or successful completion of an approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatrics and common age-related conditions
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with activities of daily living support and mobility assistance
• Good documentation skills and basic comfort with electronic charting or paper records
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for older adults
• Awareness of infection control best practices and safety procedures
