Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Support safe mobility and transfers while promoting independence and fall prevention
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Accurately document care, observations, and resident needs in the clinical record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — you must hold the appropriate Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain (check state requirements)
• High school diploma or GED is preferred
• Comfort working with older adults and demonstrated compassion in caregiving
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Prior experience in long-term care or rehab settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with residents and families
• Basic patient care skills: transfers, ADLs, feeding assistance, toileting support
• Observation skills to notice subtle changes in condition and report them
• Ability to follow care plans, safety protocols, and infection control procedures
• Teamwork mindset and flexibility in a dynamic care environment
