Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, Maryland

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (evening shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, respectful care to geriatric residents every shift
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and resident changes
Support safe mobility and fall prevention efforts for each resident
Communicate clearly with nursing staff and family members about resident needs
Follow facility policies for infection control, safety, and resident dignity
Contribute to a positive, team-focused environment and participate in trainings

Qualifications

Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
Comfortable working with older adults and supporting activities of daily living
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
CPR/BLS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
Reliable transportation for per-diem shifts

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
Skilled in basic vital signs, ADL assistance, and safe patient handling
Proficient in clear documentation and timely reporting of resident changes
Understanding of infection control and resident safety protocols
Compassion, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills with residents and families
