Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate resident care
• Ensure timely assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident needs
• Monitor resident outcomes and proactively address quality-of-care concerns
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing personnel to maintain excellence
• Lead regulatory readiness—prepare for surveys, inspections, and audits with confidence
• Develop and drive QAPI initiatives to continuously improve care and resident experience
• Manage nursing documentation practices to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Participate in facility leadership and strategic planning to advance resident-centered care
• Promote and enforce infection control, safety, and risk management programs

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
• Active Michigan nursing license required at time of submission
• CPR certification (required; documentation requested)
• Infection Control certification (required; documentation requested)
• 3-5 years Director of Nursing experience in long-term care required
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
• Experience with Matrix is a plus
• Prior DON or Nurse Manager experience preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

• Nursing leadership with a hands-on, mentoring approach

• Regulatory compliance knowledge (CMS and state requirements)
• Quality assurance and QAPI program development
