Roles & Responsibilities

Audit provider medical records for accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding, ensuring codes are supported by clinical documentation.
Compile clear audit reports with analysis of findings and maintain the audit lodge for the practice.
Communicate findings to providers and staff—offer constructive feedback and targeted education to improve documentation.
Design and implement documentation support tools in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager.
Train and mentor new and existing revenue cycle staff on coding and documentation best practices.
Perform coding procedures as needed and assist with evaluation of coding activities and staff performance.
Support BHMG coding and billing staff with coding queries and quality improvement initiatives.
Consistently meet established productivity targets for record audits and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing experience.
Proven experience in physician coding in an office-based setting and interacting directly with providers.
Experience with multi-specialty coding and audit reporting preferred.
Strong communication skills for provider education and collaboration with revenue cycle teams.
Ability to work fully onsite in Dover, DE.

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Deep knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding conventions.
Experience conducting coding audits and maintaining audit logs.
Skilled in reviewing clinical documentation for coding accuracy and compliance.
Comfortable providing provider education and developing documentation improvement tools.
Experience with charge entry processes and physician communication.
Familiarity with multi-specialty coding environments and revenue cycle workflows.
