Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility support
- Monitor and document vital signs and resident changes accurately and promptly
- Communicate resident needs and observations to the nursing team and families
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and respectful living environment for residents
- Support resident nutrition and hydration, including feeding assistance when needed
- Participate in team huddles and follow care plans to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification valid in Connecticut (required)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required upon hire)
- Compassionate patient-care focus and strong communication skills
- Ability to stand, lift, and assist residents as part of daily duties
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus but not always required
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic nursing care
- Infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
