Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures with precision and care
• Prepare operating suites with all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure patient safety at every step
• Monitor and manage surgical instrument inventory to keep procedures running smoothly
• Handle specimens with accuracy and demonstrate competence in care protocols
• Position, prep, and drape patients while adapting care to individual needs
• Perform accurate operating room counts and follow proper procedures for any discrepancies
• Clean and sterilize instruments using steam sterilization and quality monitoring
• Collaborate with nursing teams to maintain equipment and supplies for upcoming cases
• Document care within shift standards while building strong working relationships

Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA
• Current BLS certification required
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and operating room preparation
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and sterile processing
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Strong communication and collaboration with surgical teams
• Knowledge of patient positioning, prepping, and draping techniques
• Competence in handling specimens and maintaining accurate counts
