Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on occupational therapy interventions under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain independence
• Implement individualized treatment plans and adapt activities to meet patient goals
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes with the care team
• Provide education and training to patients and caregivers to support safe home transitions
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other clinicians to ensure coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Completion of an accredited OTA program (Associate degree commonly required)
• Current state license or ability to obtain licensure for New Mexico
• Comfort working a day shift schedule that includes weekends
• Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of occupational therapy principles and common adaptive techniques
• Skilled at implementing treatment plans and documenting clinical progress
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Good patient and family education skills to support recovery and independence
