Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and assist the RN/physician with setup and patient prep for diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures
• Operate and accurately utilize x-ray/angiography imaging systems and document procedures in the MacLab system
• Ensure radiation safety compliance during procedures and monitor patients throughout interventions
• Obtain hemostasis safely after procedures and assist with procedure room turnover following infection control protocols
• Administer intra-coronary medications per Bayhealth and unit policies when indicated
• Verify proper documentation and consent are present prior to procedure start times
• Participate actively in the four-month onboarding fellowship and weekly didactic sessions to build competency
• Support team growth by maintaining certifications and participating in education, workshops, and in-services

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program (required); Bachelor’s in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology preferred
• RCIS required if graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program — obtain within the specified employer timeframes if not currently held
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Minimum 18 months experience in diagnostic radiology OR completion of an accredited radiologic/cardiovascular program with program director and clinical site preceptor recommendation
• Preferred: 2 years’ experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures
• Willingness and ability to complete the four-month onboarding fellowship (clinical rotations + weekly didactics)

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or accredited Cardiovascular Technology program (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient preparation, room setup, and procedure documentation
• Cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular procedure techniques
• Operation of x-ray and angiography/imaging systems and MacLab documentation
• Radiation safety practices and infection control for procedural environments
• Hemostasis techniques and intra-coronary medication administration
• Monitoring patients during procedures and supporting post-procedure turnover
