Location: Mauston, WI

Contract Type: Perm

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, variable daytime hours with evening event coverage; occasional weekend and holiday coverage; PRN as-needed coverage (schedule varies, rotating event shifts)

Hours per Week: 40

Bill Rate: $7,500

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide on-site medical care and injury prevention services for contracted high school athletes and other active populations
Evaluate, diagnose, and develop rehabilitation plans for musculoskeletal injuries; document treatments and progress
Manage concussion care including assessment, symptom monitoring, and supervising safe return-to-play progression
Communicate clinical findings and care plans clearly with athletes, parents, coaches, and clinical teams
Perform occupational health services such as post-offer employment testing (POETs), desk assessments, and functional progress assessments
Serve as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic—take histories, assist with scheduling surgeries, and educate patients
Coordinate coverage schedules for events and collaborate with staff to ensure seamless care at practices and competitions

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology
Minimum 1+ year of related work experience
Current Athletic Trainer license in Wisconsin (must hold and maintain)
Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Valid driver’s license
Strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal communication skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology

Knowledge & Skills

Injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques
Concussion assessment and management
Musculoskeletal examination and emergency care skills
Occupational health practices (POETs, desk assessments, FPNs)
Proficient computer/documentation skills
Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and communicate compassionately
