Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OTR to help patients regain independence in ADLs
• Conduct assessments and document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge recommendations clearly and professionally
• Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques tailored to each patient’s goals and abilities
• Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive equipment, home programs, and safety strategies
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) credential — required
• Active or eligible for Maryland state licensure/registration to practice as a COTA
• Demonstrated experience working in rehabilitation or similar clinical settings (experience preferred)
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred)
• Ability to work the scheduled days and maintain professional communication with the care team

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field; COTA credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment for ADLs, transfers, and functional mobility
• Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and activity analysis
• Proficient in clinical documentation and care plan implementation
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to educate patients and families
• Teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines

This is a contract assignment in the Lanham/Bowie area of Prince George’s County — a great home base for exploring the D.C. region.
