Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform competent perioperative nursing as a circulating RN across a variety of surgical specialties
• Provide patient-centered care throughout the perioperative experience, maintaining safety and compassion
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate excellent patient care and outcomes
• Maintain sterile technique and an organized, efficient operating room environment
• Support orthopedic cases including total joints, hip fracture repairs, arthroscopy, ORIFs, and shoulder procedures
• Assist in general, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, and urology cases as needed
• Document patient care and case details accurately using Cerner EMR
• Actively maintain required certifications, licensure, and skills checklists

Qualifications

• 3+ years of circulating experience (required)
• Proficiency in orthopedic cases: total joints, hip fracture (hip fx), arthroscopy, ORIFs, and shoulder scopes/replacements (required)
• Proficient with general surgery, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, and urology cases (required)
• Active Illinois RN license (Nursys must show Active) — must be active
• Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Active American Heart Association ACLS (required)
• Completed skills checklist (current to within 1 year) pertinent to Operating Room (required)
• 2 supervisory references with dates employed (required)
• Candidates within 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible; applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are not eligible (facility restrictions)

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Illinois required (Nursys verification)
• Nursing education leading to RN licensure (ADN/BSN) — nursing degree required to hold RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and circulating room skills
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
• Sterile technique, instrumentation, and OR workflow expertise
• Ability to manage cases across ortho, neuro, vascular, gyn, urology, and general surgery
• Comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and adapting to changing case flow
• Experience or openness to working with robotic-assisted procedures (expanding robotics program)
