Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, cognition, and swallowing function to establish clear baselines
• Develop individualized treatment plans that address functional goals and quality of life
• Provide skilled therapy services using evidence-based techniques and clear documentation
• Collaborate with nurses, occupational therapists, and family members to coordinate care
• Track patient progress, update goals, and communicate outcomes to the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize communication and safety

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for Texas Speech-Language Pathologist licensure
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred but not required
• Previous experience in skilled nursing facility, inpatient rehab, or related setting preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent graduate degree

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia, aphasia, and cognitive-communication disorders
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely clinical documentation
• Ability to create measurable, functional treatment goals
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education skills
• Time management and caseload prioritization for a busy skilled nursing environment
