Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert inpatient pharmacy services including medication verification and patient-focused medication management
- Perform clinical dosing for vancomycin, aminoglycosides, and anticoagulants to optimize patient safety
- Conduct pain consults and collaborate with care teams to improve patient outcomes
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee sterile compounding using Dose Edge verification
- Manage Pyxis and Pak Edge medication systems, including first dose and emergency med box processes
- Document interventions and medication changes in the Meditech EMR with clear clinical rationale
- Mentor and support pharmacy staff to maintain high standards of practice and service across the 285-bed hospital
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or degree from an accredited Pharmacy School
- Active license to practice pharmacy in Missouri (MO) required
- BLS required and ACLS preferred
- NICU experience is a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to supervise technicians and manage decentralized pharmacy responsibilities
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an accredited Pharmacy School
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with Meditech EMR
- Familiarity with Dose Edge, Pyxis, and Pak Edge systems
- Clinical dosing knowledge for vancomycin, aminoglycosides, and anticoagulants
- Sterile compounding verification processes
- Medication verification workflows and Pyxis management
- Team leadership, collaboration, and patient-centered care
