Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations (AB and OB focus) for radiologist interpretation
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure thorough paperwork accompanies each procedure
• Care for transducers and maintain a neat, organized workspace including Trophon station upkeep
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures and provide procedural support to physicians
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and help prepare for accreditation efforts
• Transfer and position patients safely and provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan
• Rotate shifts and cover departmental responsibilities in the absence of supervisors as needed
• Pursue continuing education to meet radiology and RDMS requirements and improve clinical skills
• Contribute to policy and procedure preparation and follow SEARHC clinical standards

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category required (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• AB/OB sonography experience required; able to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
• Willingness to pursue additional RDMS certifications and continuing education
• Ability to work with patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds and to function well under stress
• Must be able to rotate shifts and travel to other SEARHC sites when required

Education

• ARDMS certification in one category (required)
• Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Diagnostic medical sonography and ultrasound exam performance (AB and OB specialties)
• Transducer care, equipment upkeep, and Trophon station maintenance
• Departmental quality assurance and documentation practices
• Patient transfer and age-specific assessment across the lifespan
• Familiarity with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures and working with referring physicians
• Policy and procedure adherence and participation in accreditation activities
