Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients with respiratory problems and interpret blood and sputum results to guide care
• Deliver treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medication administration, and chest physiotherapy to improve breathing
• Set up, operate, and manage mechanical ventilators for patients requiring life support
• Respond to respiratory emergencies, provide artificial respiration, and perform CPR when needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status, interventions, and care plans
• Collaborate with physicians and the care team on treatment plans and assist with discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on disease management and safe use of home respiratory equipment

Qualifications

• Current state Respiratory Therapist license or equivalent (must be eligible to practice in Oklahoma)
• BLS/CPR certification required
• Comfortable and experienced with mechanical ventilation and ventilator setup
• Skilled in oxygen therapy, aerosol medication administration, and chest physiotherapy
• Strong assessment and documentation skills with the ability to consult effectively with physicians
• Ability to respond calmly and competently in emergency respiratory situations
• Travel/contract experience and flexibility are a plus

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field is a plus

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Oxygen therapy and aerosol medication administration
• Chest physiotherapy and bronchopulmonary hygiene techniques
• Pulmonary function testing and interpretation
• Blood and sputum analysis for respiratory assessment
• Emergency respiratory care and CPR
• Patient education and discharge planning
• Accurate clinical documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration
