Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor adult medical-surgical patients with telemetry, responding promptly to changes in rhythm and condition
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care including wound care and occasional bowel or light burn care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting care clearly in the EMR (Meditech)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, therapists, and specialty units like burn and spinal cord injury teams — to coordinate patient care
• Prioritize and manage a busy patient assignment (typical ratio ~6:1) while maintaining patient safety and comfort
• Educate patients and families about care plans and discharge needs with kindness and clarity
• Contribute positively to unit culture by supporting colleagues, participating in handoffs, and following unit guidelines

Qualifications

• Active RN credential (Registered Nurse) — current and in good standing
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (Med/Surg or relevant acute care experience preferred)
• Comfort and experience with telemetry monitoring and caring for med/surg patient populations
• Experience with wound care; familiarity with bowel programs and low-acuity burn care is a plus
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR preferred
• Ability to thrive on a busy floor and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Spinal cord injury (SCI) experience is a nice-to-have and will be considered first

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN (as required to hold RN licensure)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Meditech EMR navigation and accurate electronic charting
• Wound assessment and wound care interventions
• Basic burn care and bowel program familiarity
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management on a busy unit
• Clear communication and teamwork in fast-paced care environments
• Ability to follow unit protocols and contribute to a safety-first culture
