Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
• Monitor fetal status using GE fetal monitors and interpret tracings to support safe deliveries
• Assist the interdisciplinary team during vaginal deliveries and C-sections to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Deliver newborn care in the nursery, including assessment, stabilization, and family education
• Manage postpartum care, including education on breastfeeding, recovery, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Meditech EMR and communicate clinical changes to providers
• Educate and support families through the birthing process with evidence-based teaching and empathy
• Participate in unit-based teamwork including charge responsibilities, staffing collaboration, and mentorship

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience (required)
• Experience working in LDRP settings with high birth volumes is highly preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications (required)
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• Active RN license per state requirements (able to practice in Virginia)
• Comfortable with Meditech EMR (experience preferred) and fetal monitoring equipment

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment skills for laboring patients and newborns
• Proficiency with fetal monitoring interpretation and response
• Hands-on experience with vaginal deliveries and C-sections
• Newborn assessment and nursery care knowledge
• Postpartum assessment, teaching, and discharge planning
• Effective communication and teamwork with OB providers, techs, and support staff
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
