Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients — perform assessments, administer medications, and document findings accurately
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a correctional facility setting with professionalism
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and follow individualized care plans
• Monitor patient conditions, report changes promptly, and escalate concerns to supervising clinicians
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in medical records and follow facility policies and procedures
• Support continuity of care during shift handoffs and participate in multidisciplinary communication
• Follow infection control, safety, and security protocols to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license — current and in good standing
• Willingness and ability to complete the facility-required one-week orientation (Mon–Fri, 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM)
• Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment; professionalism and good judgment required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
• Ability to pass facility-required screenings and background checks as part of onboarding

Education

• Vocational nursing diploma or equivalent (LVN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medication administration and wound care skills
• Patient assessment and clinical observation skills
• Accurate charting and medical record documentation
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
• Good communication and teamwork skills with patients and staff
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and handle emergencies calmly
