Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and help them maintain dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Measure and record vital signs accurately and report changes in condition to the nursing team
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Document care and observations clearly and promptly in resident charts
• Build positive relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high-quality care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or must obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
• Comfortable with physical aspects of the role (lifting, transfers) and following care plans
• Strong communication skills and a heart for compassionate caregiving

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA certification or equivalent state-approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and basic patient hygiene
• Ability to take and document accurate vital signs
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe handling
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident status
• Teamwork and clear communication with nurses, therapists, and families
• Time management and organization during busy shifts
