Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Shift Type: Evening shift (Shift 2), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, days vary

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate daily care to older adults, promoting dignity and comfort
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions to nursing staff promptly
Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
Maintain accurate documentation and follow care plans to ensure continuity
Create a warm, safe environment and build trusting relationships with residents and families

Qualifications

Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care; safe patient handling skills
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of infection control and standard precautions
Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
Skilled in safe transfers and resident mobility assistance
Familiarity with documentation standards in long-term care
Compassionate resident-centered care and strong observational skills
Team collaboration and effective communication with nursing staff
