Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Days: Not specified, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, helping preserve dignity and comfort
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
  • Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
  • Support safe mobility and fall prevention through careful assistance and observation
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care, meal times, and resident interactions
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

  • Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
  • Active state nursing assistant registry status as required by Maryland
  • Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and resident-focused approach

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved nursing assistant program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of geriatric care principles and activities of daily living
  • Ability to safely transfer and ambulate residents
  • Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
  • Basic documentation and observation skills
  • Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
