Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and grooming with compassion and respect
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or mental condition to nursing staff
• Help with meal service and feeding assistance while encouraging independence when possible
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, following infection control practices
• Build positive relationships with residents and families to promote dignity, comfort, and quality of life

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required or equivalent credential
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus but not required for strong candidates
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or able to obtain
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Compassionate demeanor, strong communication skills, and a team-first attitude
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and assisting residents safely

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and the needs of aging adults
• Familiarity with infection prevention and basic safety protocols
• Skill in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Strong observational skills to notice subtle changes in condition
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
• Reliable time management and the ability to follow care plans and directions
