Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
• Document care clearly and accurately to maintain continuity and quality
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, therapists, and families to support resident goals
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control practices

Qualifications

• GNA certification / completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred)
• Comfort working in long-term care or assisted living settings (experience preferred but new grads welcome)
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and care teams
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to handle physical aspects of resident care

Education

• High school diploma or GED and completion of a state-approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Geriatric care principles and respectful elder-centered approach
• Basic patient care skills: ADLs, feeding assistance, toileting support
• Safe transfer and mobility techniques
• Infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Clear documentation and observational reporting
• Empathy, patience, and effective communication with older adults
