Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
• Assist with safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment
• Support residents' dignity and independence while delivering person-centered care
• Maintain accurate documentation and care notes in accordance with facility standards
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe care environment
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations with professionalism

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Minimum competence/experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Ability to work night shifts and flexible per-diem scheduling
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Reliable transportation to reach the Bowie area and on-site facility

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• GNA / Nursing Assistant certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADL assistance
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with older adults
• Ability to perform safe resident transfers and use assistive devices
• Familiarity with documentation standards and basic charting
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience in challenging situations
