Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal) with accuracy and clinical confidence.
• Conduct exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography and other cardiac diagnostics such as EKG, Holter monitoring, and cardiac stress tests.
• Operate and optimize echocardiography and cardiac diagnostic equipment to deliver the best possible imaging and data for cardiology teams.
• Assess and manage hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and correct charging of studies.
• Implement infection control practices and perform proper equipment disinfection and aseptic techniques.
• Provide clinical guidance and preceptorship to students from partner colleges and universities.
• Deliver age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonatal and pediatric echocardiography, ensuring a calm, safe patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required.
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience.
• Preferred: extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience, including pediatric and neonatal studies.
• Preferred education: Certificate Program in Cardiovascular Sonography or equivalent.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate Program in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography techniques.
• Skilled with EKGs, Holter monitoring (prep, monitoring, analysis), and cardiac stress testing.
• Knowledgeable in infection control, aseptic technique, and equipment disinfection.
• Able to use cardiac diagnostic systems and computer analysis tools effectively.
• Comfortable scheduling, documentation, and correct charging of studies in hospital information systems.
• Experience providing preceptorship and clinical instruction to students.
