Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy assistance to residents, supporting daily living activities and functional goals
• Implement treatment plans developed by the occupational therapist and document resident progress
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists and family members to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive techniques, equipment use and safety strategies
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility and regulatory standards
• Assist with mobility, transfers and restorative programs to promote independence and quality of life

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential in good standing
• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• State licensure or ability to obtain Montana COTA licensure prior to start
• Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation or long term care preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before start)
• Strong communication, patient-handling and documentation skills

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field; COTA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with ADL training and adaptive equipment
• Knowledge of therapeutic activities, positioning and restorative care
• Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
• Strong observational skills and ability to modify treatments based on resident response
