Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence
• Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions focused on activities of daily living and adaptive strategies
• Document clinical progress clearly and promptly to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians and family members to coordinate holistic care plans
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe transfers, adaptive equipment, and home strategies to maximize recovery
• Monitor and adjust treatment approaches based on patient response and clinical goals
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and appropriate follow-up care

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
• Active California state licensure or registration as required for practice
• Completion of an accredited OTA program (associate-level or equivalent)
• Current BLS (CPR) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfort working in a post-acute/rehabilitation setting; strong clinical judgment and patient-centered focus
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or graduation from an accredited OTA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL assessment and training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and therapeutic activities
• Knowledge of safe transfer techniques and mobility training
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
• Ability to educate patients and families with empathy and clarity
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safety protocols
• Good time management and caseload prioritization skills
