Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team promptly
• Perform safe transfers and ambulation assistance using proper body mechanics
• Take and record vital signs and intake/output as directed
• Provide compassionate bedside care and emotional support to residents and families
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the resident chart
• Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a safe care environment
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (must be valid in West Virginia or eligible for state reciprocity)
• Comfortable providing hands-on resident care in a long-term care setting
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements (TB test, immunizations)
• Basic CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; active CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven ability to assist with ADLs while preserving resident dignity
• Knowledge of basic infection control and safety practices
• Competence in taking vital signs and documenting findings accurately
• Strong observational skills and the ability to escalate concerns appropriately
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
• Time management and prioritization during busy shift periods
