Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Take and record vital signs and measure outputs accurately
• Observe patients closely, document findings, and report changes to the nursing team
• Follow infection control procedures and universal precautions consistently
• Assist with restorative care tasks including use of assistive devices and range of motion activities
• Support the interdisciplinary treatment team and participate in patient care planning
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and patient rights while delivering care
• Perform basic first aid and apply body mechanics to ensure safe patient handling

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) — current/state-appropriate credential
• Minimum six months experience in a long-term care (LTC) facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six months of employment
• Comfortable reading, writing, speaking, and understanding simple English to follow instructions and document care
• Physically able to perform essential duties including patient transfers and personal care
• Positive attitude, patience, tact, and the ability to work with patients who may be repetitive, confused, or require extra support
• Previous Hawaii work experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and ADLs with attention to dignity and comfort
• Taking and interpreting vital signs and measuring output
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Basic nursing/medical terminology and patient assessment fundamentals
• Restorative care techniques, assistive devices, and range of motion activities
• Accurate documentation and clear oral and written communication
• Strong observation skills and the ability to recall and report events
• Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse patient populations
