Roles & Responsibilities

Collect and accurately document patient information and maintain organized charts
Prepare patients for exams and assist with procedures, treatments, and minor surgeries
Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing following established protocols
Provide immunizations and injections as ordered by the provider
Operate and monitor basic diagnostic equipment including EKG, pulse oximeter, and blood pressure devices
Support providers and clinic nurses to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care
Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition or safety concerns
Provide cross-coverage and collaborate with peers to maintain consistent department operations

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required; current AK Certification OR AK Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree from an accredited institution acceptable in lieu of above
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Demonstrated ability to use electronic medical record systems
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills

Education

High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Patient charting and documentation
Specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT)
Immunizations and injections
Vital signs measurement and age-appropriate assessment
Operation of EKG, cardiac monitor, manual defibrillator, and pulse oximeter
Familiarity with EMR systems and computer applications
Ability to train others and provide cross-coverage
Medical terminology and clinic workflow knowledge
