Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support mobility and safe transfers while promoting resident independence
• Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff promptly
• Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting with respect and dignity
• Document care and resident responses accurately and timely
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered support and maintain a calm environment
• Ensure infection control practices and safety standards are followed at all times

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but new graduates may be considered
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility screening requirements
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy (flu, TB screening, etc.)
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to resident care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) and safe resident handling
• Knowledge of geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
• Familiarity with basic charting and documentation procedures
• Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to nursing staff
• Good infection control and hand hygiene practices
• Team-oriented mindset and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
