Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care for adult ICU patients
• Manage ventilators and participate in ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
• Perform and assist with line placements and ensure secure, sterile technique
• Safely manage IV pumps and titrate drips according to orders and protocols
• Document all patient care and assessments accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes quickly, and intervene appropriately
• Support a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure and eligibility to practice in Texas
• BLS and ACLS (ALS) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
• BSN preferred; CCRN is a plus
• Comfort working with 1:2 and 1:3 patient ratios and high-acuity cases
• Upbeat attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the unit

Education

• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care knowledge and clinical judgment
• Ventilator management and respiratory support skills
• Competence with line placement care and central line maintenance
• Experience with IV pumps and safe medication/drip titration
• Proficiency using Meditech electronic medical records
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced, team-oriented ICU environment
• Excellent communication and patient/family education skills
