Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor and delivery nursing care, including monitoring and supporting laboring and preterm pregnant patients
• Confidently circulate and recover C-sections in the unit’s OR suites
• Perform electronic charting accurately and timely (preferably in Cerner)
• Interpret fetal monitoring (EFM) tracings and respond per unit protocols
• Titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per established protocols and safety guidelines
• Collaborate closely with OB hospitalists, anesthesia, RT, pharmacy, and IV teams for seamless patient care
• Participate in orientation Sim lab and demonstrate competency on day 1
• Adhere to AWHONN guidelines, unit ratios, and safety standards while prioritizing patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; able to submit credentials as required
• Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience (as listed)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
• Must have hands-on experience with C-sections (circulating & recovering)
• Comfortable and experienced with computer charting (Cerner preferred)
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and pass dysrhythmia exam (80% pass required; up to 2 attempts)
• Experience with fetal monitoring (EFM) and obstetric acute care
• Willingness to participate in mandatory Sim lab and unit-based orientation

Education

• Active RN licensure required
• BSN not required (associate/diploma RNs considered); ongoing education supported

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery workflows and AWHONN guidelines
• Electronic Medical Record proficiency (Cerner preferred)
• Fetal monitoring systems (Fetal Link) and EFM interpretation
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Medication titration for obstetric drips (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate)
• C-section circulation and recovery procedures
• OB triage, antepartum care, and collaboration with OB hospitalists
• Simulation lab experience and adherence to acute OB care protocols
