Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage patients quickly and compassionately, prioritizing care based on acuity
• Manage cardiac monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Establish and maintain IV access, manage central lines and administer blood products safely
• Administer IV vasopressors and high-acuity medications while vigilantly monitoring patients
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Perform and monitor procedural sedation and assist with rapid sequence intubation when needed
• Document care accurately using EPIC and manage medications via Pyxis (preferred experience)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Work) to deliver coordinated care
• Advocate for patients and maintain safety during behavioral health presentations, restraints, and seclusions
• Support unit efficiencies and mentor colleagues when acting in charge or during high census

Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact license accepted and honored by Swedish facilities)
• Minimum 3 years of emergency nursing experience (strong 2-year candidates may be screened)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS and PALS required
• Demonstrated experience in combined Adult/Pediatric ED (REQUIRED)
• Proven skills in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, blood product administration and central line care
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators and procedural sedation
• EPIC charting and Pyxis medication system experience preferred
• Ability to float to Edmonds/other campuses and work every-other-weekend on-call
• Willingness to comply with facility scheduling rules (RTO approvals and makeup time requirements)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage assessment and prioritization
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency cardiac management
• IV placement, maintenance, and central line care
• Administration of blood products and IV vasopressors
• Ventilator basics, CPAP/BiPAP management and respiratory interventions
• Procedural sedation monitoring and airway support (RSI familiarity)
• Accurate, efficient charting (EPIC) and medication workflows (Pyxis)
• Strong communication, teamwork and crisis management skills
• Experience in trauma and psychiatric emergency presentations (preferred)
